Reported Drowning Near the Confluence of the American River
August 19, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Sunday (August 18th, 2024), at approximately 11:40 a.m., we received a report of a man who had gone under and not resurfaced in the area of No Hands Bridge on the American River.
According to family members, the man jumped in after his son, who was struggling in the water. Another man, not with the family, also jumped in to help and was able to bring the child back to shore. The child was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. The father went under and has not been found.
Our dive team responded and worked to locate the man. At this point, he has not been found.
