September 6, 2024 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) has announced that she has joined bipartisan legislation to create a pilot jacky rosen senator nevadaprogram to provide child care services for the children of law enforcement officers and accommodate their non-traditional work hours. The bipartisan Providing Child Care for Police Officers Act would provide $24 million to the Department of Health and Human Services to provide grants for opening child care centers that serve law enforcement families with the goal of easing the child care burden for police officers and enhancing officer recruitment and retention.

“Nevada law enforcement works around the clock to keep our communities safe, which requires officers to work non-traditional hours that can make it difficult to find appropriate and affordable childcare,” said Senator Rosen. “I’m proud to have joined this bipartisan legislation to help provide police officers with the child care services and support their families need as they risk their lives for our security and safety. I’ll continue working across party lines to make sure Nevada’s law enforcement officers have the resources and support they deserve.”

Senator Rosen has been working to support Nevada’s law enforcement community and ensure it has the resources needed to fight crime effectively and safely. She announced that a bipartisan bill she backed to fund family support and mental health services for law enforcement officers passed the Senate earlier this month. Senator Rosen held a press conference to highlight nearly $1 million in federal funding she helped secure to provide mental health training to law enforcement officers and first responders. She also announced more than $6 million in federal funding she helped secure for Nevada law enforcement, criminal justice, and public safety projects across the state was being delivered.
