National Cold Case Month Investigation 

September 7, 2024 – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on September 9, 2000, at approximately 11:50 p.m. the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a suspicious death in the town of Copperopolis. The male was later identified as Hector Girol and the cause of death was deemed a homicide.

Hector was located in a shower with multiple gunshot wounds to his body which ultimately caused his death.
