Homicide Investigation on US-50 Eastbound Near Camino 

September 8, 2024 – Placerville, CA – Placerville CHP officials report that early Saturday morning, on September 7, 2024, just after 6:30 A.M., California Highway Patrol Placerville Area officers responded to a call of a disabled vehicle on US-50 eastbound, east of Snows Road in the community of Camino. Officers quickly located a Chevrolet truck on the right shoulder of the highway. Inside, they found a female occupant who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

CHP officers arrested a 38-year-old man from Sacramento, in connection with the homicide, who was taken into custody without incident and this investigation is ongoing.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our allied agencies, including the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office, CalFire, El Dorado County Fire Departments, and Caltrans, for their invaluable assistance in ensuring scene safety and providing support throughout the investigation.

There is no ongoing threat to the public, and CHP continues to work diligently on this case.
