September 9, 2024 – Mariposa County Health & Human Services announce that each year in September their Agency recognizes Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month.
Each year we make efforts to cover our community in resources, phone numbers, tools and information.
Suicide continues to be the leading cause of death in the United States among youth and older adults.
Knowing the warning signs of suicide may help you or someone you know connect to care sooner and prevent suicide.
Signs like:
- Feeling hopeless or having no reason to live
- Feeling trapped or unbearable pain
- Talking about being a burden to others
- Increased use of alcohol or drugs
- Acting anxious, agitated or reckless
- Sleeping too little or too much
- Withdrawing or feeling isolated
- Extreme mood swings
