September 10, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report that shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, officers from the Southwest Policing District responded to the 2200 block of South Cherry Avenue for reports of two gunshot victims in a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Alfonso Salgado lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound. EMS and officers attempted life-saving measures, but Salgado succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Homicide detectives were notified and took over the investigation.

The second victim, who was identified as an 18-year-old Hispanic male, was transported to CRMC, where he was treated for a gunshot wound. He was listed in stable condition and was released later that evening.

The motive for the shooting is currently unknown, and detectives are actively searching the area for witnesses and surveillance footage. Detectives urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the Fresno Police Department.
