September 10, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report that at 2:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024, officers from the Fresno Police Department’s Central Policing District responded to 936 East Olive Avenue regarding a report of an assault. The 9-1-1 caller advised dispatch that an unhoused male who was sleeping in front the business had just been physically assaulted. Officers arrived and found the 47-year-old victim. He was conscious but had suffered significant injuries to his head. The victim was transported to CRMC for treatment. The victim could only tell officers and detectives that he was asleep and suddenly awoke after being repeatedly struck on his head. The 9-1-1 caller was also located and stated that they witnessed another male adult standing over the victim, repeatedly kicking him in the head. After the assault, the suspect fled the scene eastbound on Olive Avenue.
Detectives from the Street Violence Bureau initiated their investigation. Surveillance video from nearby businesses captured the assault, however the suspect has not been identified. Detectives are releasing part of the surveillance evidence, asking that if anyone from our community can identify the suspect responsible for this vicious assault, to please contact the Fresno Police Department, referencing Case Number 2408260080.
