National Cold Case Month Investigation 

September 10, 2024 – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office officials report that in 1994, the hands of Sharalyn Murphy were located within a garbage bag along the shores of New Melones Reservoir. Sharalyn’s naked and headless body was located approximately six miles from the reservoir. Sharalyn’s estimated time of death is to be in the fall season of 1994. She was 23 years old.

Sharalyn originally lived in the State of Washington but moved to the Sacramento area in 1993.
