September 12, 2024 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the Rural Crime Investigations Unit recovered 16 stolen vehicles, including farm and construction equipment in Rosamond. One arrested.
On August 28, 2024, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigations Unit conducted an investigation regarding a stolen tractor near Enos Lane and Stockdale Highway. Rural Crime Detectives began their investigation and obtained video evidence of the theft. Detectives identified the subject involved as CHRISTOPHER ZUBER (43), of Helendale, CA. As detectives continued the investigation, they believed ZUBER was involved in several other equipment thefts in Kern County.
On September 10, 2024, Rural Crime Detectives were led to the Rosamond area, near 62nd Street West, and Sweetser Road. Zuber was located in the area and arrested. A search warrant of a nearby property was obtained. While executing the search warrant, Rural Crime Detectives located the stolen tractor from Enos Lane and Stockdale Highway. As the search continued detectives located two more stolen John Deere tractors, one of which was stolen in Arizona, a stolen 42’ travel trailer, also reported out of Arizona, an industrial forklift, five stolen trailers, a stolen semi-truck, a stolen Chevrolet truck, Yamaha quad, and a stolen light tower. Detectives also located a large quantity of narcotics and several firearms.
ZUBER was booked at the Kern County Jail for VC 10851(A)-Grand theft auto, PC 182(a)(1)-Conspiracy, HS 11352(a)-Transport/sell Narcotics, HS 11351-Possess/purchase for sale narcotics, HS 11379(a)- Transport substance, HS 11370.1(a)- Posses controlled substance while armed, VC 10801- Own/operate chop shop, PC 496d(a)- Posses stolen vehicle, and HS 11378- Possess controlled substance.
