September 18, 2024 – El Dorado County Sheriff's Office officials report that on September 16, 2024, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office arrested Jason Robinette, 48, of Placerville, on a warrant issued by CAL FIRE Law Enforcement. The arrest was made following an investigation into the Crozier Fire, which ignited in El Dorado County during the early morning hours of August 6, 2024.
Robinette was arrested in Placerville and booked into the El Dorado County Jail on charges of arson and starting the Crozier Fire, ultimately burning 1,960 acres in El Dorado County.
After completion of the initial investigation, it was determined that the fire was intentionally set. The investigation involved collaboration between CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers, the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Forest Service’s Law Enforcement and Investigations Office.
CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers work diligently to investigate all fires and apprehend those suspected of starting fires. From January 1, 2024, through August 31, 2024, CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers have made 91 arrests related to arson.
