September 18, 2024 – Tulare County Sheriff's Office officials report that at around 10:30 a.m. on September 16, 2024, TCSO Deputies were called to the 28900 Block of Road 168 near Farmersville for a robbery and carjacking.

When Deputies arrived, the 71- year-old victim told them while he was working in the area, he was approached by a teenage boy. When the victim offered the teen a ride, he pulled out a hammer and took the victim’s cell phone and car keys. Once the teenager had the car keys, he pushed the man to the ground. He then drove off in the victim’s car towards the Farmersville area.

During the course of their investigation, Deputies found the victim’s car near a canal bank with the teenager next to it. When Deputies contacted him, he became uncooperative and was taken into custody.

The 15-year-old boy was taken into custody for Robbery, Carjacking, Elder Abuse and Resisting Arrest. It was later learned, the 15-year-old was a runaway from the Porterville area.
