the City of Le Grand via the internet. Merced Police Department Hi-Tech crimes detectives followed up on the case and after a lengthy investigation, investigators were able to determine what internet address was viewing the child pornography. Investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for a residence in the 3700 Block of E. Sante Fe, in the City of Le Grand.
The warrant was served on Friday, February 12, 2016 at approximately 11:00 a.m. by the Detective Division with the help of the department’s Gang Unit. During the search of the residence, detectives found that Benny Perez IV, 20, was accessing and viewing child pornography from the internet service inside of his residence.
After a brief interview, Benny Perez admitted to accessing and viewing the child pornography from his smart phone and said that he had erased it after viewing.
MPD hi-tech crimes detectives were able to check his phone and found the child pornography that he had been viewing.
Mr.Perez was arrested and his phone was seized as evidence. He was later booked for accessing and possession of child pornography.
