Merced County Sheriff's Office Update: At this time, we do not believe there is a threat to the public regarding this incident. No foul play is suspected.
We also have received questions as to why Animal Services was on scene. While Detectives were investigating, they located three calves that needed immediate attention. One had to euthanized and the other two were seized due to being malnourished.

September 24, 2024 – Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report that earlier on Monday afternoon, Deputies responded to the 15000 block of Oak Street in Delhi for a report of two individuals in a tank containing fuel.
When Deputies arrived, they located two female adults in the tank. CAL FIRE arrived on scene and began rescue efforts. One of the women was rescued and transported to a local area hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown. The other woman was recovered from the tank and was pronounced dead at the scene.
