September 28, 2024 - SONORA, Calif. -- This Saturday, Sept. 28, the Stanislaus National Forest will waive standard amenity fees for all visitors to national forest and grassland day-use areas. This fee-free day celebrates National Public Lands Day and volunteering on national forests.

“National Public Lands Day is one of several fee-free days across the nation’s public lands meant to encourage folks to get outside and enjoy their national treasures,” said Stanislaus National Forest Recreation Officer, Casey Jardine. “Here on the Stanislaus, all day-use fees at sites managed by the Stanislaus will free and we truly hope folks come out and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.”

On these special days, standard amenity fees charged for day-use sites — like picnic areas, developed trailheads, and destination visitor centers — are waived. Waiver does not apply to special recreation permits, cabin rentals, campground reservations, amenity fees on certain highly developed sites, and service fees by independent concessionaires on national forest land. For more about interagency passes, visit the Forest Service’s Passes and Permits page.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to Stanislaus National Forest Public Affairs Officer, Benjamin Cossel: benjamin.cossel@usda.gov or 209.288.6261.
