National Cold Case Month Investigation
September 29, 2024 – Calaveras County Sheriff's Office officials report that on March 29, 2021, at approximately 12:05 P.M., the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report of skeletal remains located in the rural area of Mokelumne Hill, CA. The skeletal remains were later identified as Calvin Richard Day.
Calvin was located in a shallow grave, and the cause of death was deemed a homicide.
Calvin lived in Tracy, CA, and was last seen on October 3rd, 2020, in the area of Stockton, CA.
The following day, October 4th, 2020, Calvin's vehicle was found unoccupied and parked in the Weston Ranch sub-division in Stockton, CA.
The investigation did not reveal a direct connection between Calvin and the location where his remains were discovered.
