October 1, 2024 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Monday, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen joined her Nevada Delegation colleagues Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Representatives Dina Titus (D-NV-01), Steven Horsford (D-NV-04), and Susie Lee (D-NV-03) in a letter urging the Biden Administration to reduce restrictions on Ukraine’s use of U.S.-provided weapons against Russia’s illegal invasion. In their letter, they stress that allowing Ukraine to fully use U.S. weapons and technologies will help Ukrainians strike high-value military targets within Russia and take back lost territory. This comes after Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week to discuss the need for increased U.S. support.

“[W]e urge you to reduce current limitations on Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons supplied by the U.S. for targeting legitimate military sites within Russia,” wrote the lawmakers. “Continuing these restrictions not only hinders Ukraine’s path to victory but also prolongs the suffering of its people as Russia escalates its assaults.”

“Granting Ukraine greater access to long-range weaponry would enhance its operational capabilities, enabling precise attacks that could disrupt Russian military operations,” they continued. “While necessary support has eventually been provided, delays have cost Ukraine dearly in terms of both time and lives. We must act swiftly to empower Ukraine to defeat Russian aggression.”

Senator Rosen has been a strong supporter of Ukraine in its fight to defeat Russian aggression. She has advocated for providing Ukraine with defensive resources and support and has repeatedly called to isolate and hold Russia accountable for its unjust actions, crimes, and abuses. Earlier this year, she helped pass a bipartisan package providing aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Senator Rosen has also actively called to strengthen and expand the NATO Alliance.
