October 2, 2024 - SONORA, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled recreation area closures at New Melones Lake from Oct. 1 through March 31. The off-season operation includes closures of some facilities to enable Reclamation to perform necessary maintenance tasks and allow for natural resource recovery. Camping, day use areas, and boat launching entrance gates will remain open and available through this period in both the Glory Hole and Tuttletown recreation areas 4 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Closures in the Tuttletown Recreation Area will occur at the following:
Manzanita, Nov. 1 - Dec. 31;
Chamise, Oct. 1 - March 31
- Closures in the Glory Hole Recreation Area will occur at the following:
Ironhorse, Nov. 1 - Dec. 31
- Natural Bridges Day Use Area and Mark Twain Recreation Area remain open from sunrise to sunset.
The New Melones Lake Administration is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (except federal holidays), and the Visitor Center and Museum is open to visitation and pass sales on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, contact New Melones or visit the New Melones Lake website at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/ccao/newmelones/.
