Pink Sneaker Bandit Caught

October 5, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on the morning on September 24th, 2024, we investigated two burglaries and an attempted burglary, all of which are believed to be connected. As you’ll see below, our deputies and detectives work fast – sending a clear message: Don’t Commit Crimes in Placer County.

In the first, a silent alarm was activated at The Store Gas Station along Grass Valley Highway at Dry Creek Road at 2:30 a.m. Deputies found the front door had a large break in it, which appeared to be caused by a rock, but due to the size of the break no one was able to get into the business.

The second happened the Shell Station on Lincoln Way near Flood Road at 2:20 a.m. In that burglary a rock was thrown through a locked glass door and lottery tickets were stolen. Surveillance footage showed the female suspect inside the store, wearing bright pink sneakers.

The third happened at the Penryn Subway where a safe containing several thousand dollars had been taken from the business. The break-in was discovered by an employee at 8:00 a.m. A window was broken to get in, like the cases in Auburn. Surveillance footage also showed the same suspect vehicle linked to the Auburn cases, as well as a clear view of a male driver, adding a second suspect.

Deputies and detectives quickly got to work on the case and were able to locate the suspects’ car in a parking lot off Industrial Avenue in West Placer County. The woman, wearing bright pink sneakers, was the first to come out. She was taken into custody by deputies at 12:09 p.m. The male suspect was taken into custody shortly after, at 12:15 p.m.

41-year-old Calli Garcia of Placerville and 35-year-old Orlando Marquez of Woodland were both booked into jail on felony charges including burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime and vandalism.

This investigation was a team effort with a quick conclusion. Great work by everyone involved!
