October 6, 2024 – Mariposa County Library is excited to announce the Library has been awarded a grant from the California State Library to participate in Zip Books. The purpose of the Zip Books Project is to order patron requested material that is not currently owned by the Library and get that material into patron's hands quickly.
We anticipate this program will be rolled out soon, pending award acceptance by the County Board of Supervisors.
Patrons will be able to ask the library to purchase books directly from Amazon that are NOT currently in the library collection. The books will be shipped to the patron's home and will be treated like a normal library book. The patron will be responsible for bringing the book back to the library within 3 weeks. The book is then added to the library's collection or donated to our Friends of the Library group to sell to benefit the library.
This grant program helps the Library to meet the informational needs of residents by augmenting the Library’s material budget specifically for customer requests.
Stay tuned for more details on how this will work! We are very excited.
