Homicide Investigation 

October 9, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report that just before 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, officers from the Northwest Policing District responded to a report of gunfire outside the Curry House Restaurant and Bar, located in the area of Ashlan Avenue and West Avenue. As officers were arriving, 28-year-old Lovepreet Singh called 9-1-1, stating he had been involved in a disturbance at the restaurant and had fired a gun. Lovepreet also indicated his intention to surrender to the police upon their arrival. Officers located Lovepreet nearby, detained him, and found him in possession of a semi-automatic firearm.

Back at the restaurant, additional officers found 29-year-old Harmanpreet Singh lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper body. EMS personnel transported him to a local Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and learned that Lovepreet and Harmanpreet, both from Modesto, knew each other and were attending a celebration at the restaurant. Witnesses reported that Lovepreet pulled out a handgun and shot Harmanpreet in the upper body in the parking lot. As Lovepreet fled the scene, he fired at another victim but missed.

Lovepreet was booked into Fresno County Jail on charges of PC 187(a) – Murder and PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder. Detectives are still investigating the motive and urge anyone with information to contact the Fresno Police Department.
