TCSO Deputies Investigating Hang-Glider Crash in Porterville 

October 10, 2024 – Tulare County Sheriff’s Office officials report that just before 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, TCSO Deputies were called to the area of South Sunset and E. Springville Avenue in Porterville for a plane crash.

When Deputies arrived, they discovered the plane was actually a hang-glider, with one man inside. The man had an injury to his leg and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

The plane was described as an Ultra lite aircraft. The pilot said he was on his way back to the airport when the engine cut out and he crashed.

TCSO deputies are on scene and the FAA has been notified.
