October 16, 2024 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Deputies have arrested 58-year-old Vernon Wells of Fresno. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of auto theft, possession of stolen property and vandalism.
On Tuesday, deputies responded to W. Mount Whitney and S. Hayes Avenues near Riverdale for a report of a stolen agriculture shade trailer. These trailers serve as cooling stations in fields for farmworkers to take breaks while working in hot conditions.
Deputies learned the trailer was equipped with a GPS device, which allowed them to track it to a commercial property near W. Ashlan and N. Valentine Avenues in Fresno. Deputies contacted Vernon Wells and determined he was responsible for the theft. Arrangements were made to return the trailer to its owner.
