February 26, 2016 - At the upcoming workshop for the Water Resources Management Plan, discussions will be held related to a host of future financial-management issues for Merced Irrigation District.
The Water Resources Plan has been in the works for more than a year and will help guide future decisions about the District’s operations. MID has conducted numerous workshops to receive input from the public throughout its development.
As part of the upcoming workshop, a sophisticated financial computer model will be used to explore various financial strategies that will help guide the final efforts of the water plan. The meeting will be held immediately following the 10 a.m. Board of Director’s meeting on March 1 at the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St. in Merced.
Throughout the planning process, input has been received from local growers, business interests, local elected officials, the Merced Irrigation District Advisory Committee, and many other community leaders. Numerous water industry leaders and experts across the state have also been consulted.
Following public input and Board direction received at the financial model workshop, MID staff will develop several alternatives to be considered in the plan recommendations. Once complete, the Water Resources Management Plan will serve as a long-range planning guide. For more information about the WRMP, please click here.
