October 21, 2024 – CAL FIRE works with partners to restore natural resources after the devastating Caldor Fire in El Dorado County. The Caldor wildfire burned 221,775 acres in El Dorado and Amador counties in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California.

CAL FIRE officials report that three years after the Caldor Fire, multiple partners are hard at work restoring the natural resources that were impacted in 2021. As part of the Emergency Forest Restoration Team (EFRT), CAL FIRE, the U.S. Forest Service - Eldorado National Forest, and the El Dorado & Georgetown Divide Resource Conservation Districts have been working to help replant and support local private landowners in their recovery.

Funded by CAL FIRE and The USDA Forest Service, the EFRT is an organized team of experts who quickly came in after the fire and assisted the community of Grizzly Flats in its recovery. Reforestation efforts, the removal of burned and downed trees, and the rebuilding of fuel breaks around Grizzly Flats continue to help the community recover and be better prepared for future wildfires.
