October 22, 2024 – The Mariposa Friends of the Library will be hosting our Fall Book Sale in support of the Mariposa County Libraries. The Book Sale will take place outside the Mariposa library at 4978 10th street on Friday, October 25 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. and Saturday, October 26 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
According to Matt Johnson, our county librarian, “These book sales go a long way toward providing funds to help the library. From providing funding for new books, to printer toner, to helping with the costs of library programming, the Friends of the Library book sales are very important to the success of the library. And that goes for every branch of our library system throughout the county.”
The Friends of the Library have been hosting book sales for many years and our support for readers in the community is well established through our semi-annual book sales and through Books Galore, the largest used bookstore in the county. This fall we are reaching out into the Mariposa community in an effort to support our local authors.
Mariposa county is well known as a cultural bastion of artists, musicians, photographers, craftsmen, and writers. The Friends of the Library and the County Libraries have supported some of these writers and find ourselves in the unique position to increase that support by featuring four local authors, Christy Wall, Ashley Neese, Vicki Thomas, and Lori Oliver-Tierney. They will each have a table at the fall book sale and will be selling and signing their published works.
So this fall, please stop by to meet the authors and help support your local community libraries by purchasing some fine used books.
