TCSO Partners with Nonprofit to Fight Fentanyl

October 24, 2024 – Tulare County Sheriff's Office officials report that as part of Red Ribbon Week, Sheriff Boudreaux is bringing Fentanyl deaawareness to the dangers of fentanyl and shining a light on the efforts of one nonprofit dedicated to helping to prevent future deaths from fentanyl.

Sheriff Boudreaux got to know the founder, John McLaughlin, of the nonprofit the “Jonah and Travis Drug Awareness Fund” during a recent fundraiser.

John lost his son, Jonah, to a fentanyl poisoning in 2021, at the age of 21. It was his fourth overdose. While he wanted to get better, Jonah’s addiction consumed him, his father said.

To help with grieving and to give back to the community, John and his daughter, Mallory, started the nonprofit. They hand out free Narcan kits, sponsor people into sober living facilities, and provide college scholarships for young people wanting to further their education.
