October 27, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report on the passing of their beloved Buster, who served as a narcotics canine for over 12 year with the department.
It is with a heavy heart that the Fresno Police Department announces the passing of our beloved Buster. Buster served the Fresno Police Department for over 12 years as a narcotics canine. He was very tenacious and dedicated when it came to searching for narcotics. He kept numerous officers safe by detecting illegal narcotics well in advance of the officers unknowingly exposing themselves to the substances.
During his career, he located and led to the recovery of thousands of pounds of narcotics. Buster was also extremely friendly. He loved going to new places and meeting as many people as possible. They welcomed him with warm hugs, and he brought joy to many hearts. If he wasn’t searching for narcotics, he consistently carried a tennis ball with him and would play ball with anyone.
At the time of his passing, he was 14 years old. Buster was a special part of our Fresno Police Department family and will be deeply missed.
