November 1, 2024 - National Weather Service Hanford Office officials report a storm system will impact Central California this weekend.

Snowfall above 6,000 feet has the potential to create difficult travel conditions in the Sierra Nevada.

A Winter Weather Advisory is valid from 5:00 P.M. Friday through 11:00 P.M. Saturday, with around 6 inches of snow projected.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS
AFTERNOON TO 11 PM PDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected above 6,000 feet. Total snow accumulations up
  to 5-7 inches expected, with 8 inches possible at the highest
  elevations. At Tioga Pass, there is a 39 percent chance of four or
  more inches of snow.

* WHERE...Kaiser to Rodgers Ridge, Kings Canyon NP, Upper San
  Joaquin River, and Yosemite NP outside of the valley.

* WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 11 PM PDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
  likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road
  conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday
  evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road
conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by
calling 5 1 1.

Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while
driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken
on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and
slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
