November 6, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Friday, November 1, 2024, shortly after midnight, Northwest officers responded to a reported shooting victim at the Windscape Apartments located at 353 W. Nees. The reporting party informed the dispatcher that Tyler Hamon had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers observed bullet holes through the front door and cartridge casings on the upstairs landing. Inside the apartment, they found 33-year-old Tyler Hamon in a back bedroom, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers and EMS attempted life-saving measures before transporting Hamon to Kaiser Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Through the investigation, detectives were able to identify Gerrick Franklin as the person who fatally shot Hamon. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and on Sunday, Franklin was located in Madera County and arrested by Madera County Sheriff Deputies. He was booked at the Fresno County Jail on one count of murder.
