March 4, 2016 - The Stanislaus National Forest (NF) is seeking public comment on preliminary 2017 (G15) off-highway vehicle grant applications for consideration by the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHVMR) Division.

Prepared under OHVMR Division program revised regulations (approved January 2016), Forest recreation specialists have completed two draft grant applications proposing a total of three off-highway vehicle (OHV) projects.

The proposed projects include: Forest-wide operation and maintenance of OHV trails and facilities; directional and educational trail signing and barrier placement; routine law enforcement patrols and visitor education; and development planning. The OHVMV Division grants are an integral part of the ongoing success of the Forest’s OHV program.

The public comment period for grant applications begins Tuesday and ends April 4. The public is invited to review and comment on the preliminary application package. Stanislaus NF grant applications can be found by going to the California State Parks, Off-Highway Motor Vehicular Recreation Grant and Cooperative Agreements web site. Once you click on the “Apply for Grants” tab in the right column, click on the On-Line Grant Application (OLGA) site present at the top of the page. Once at the OLGA site, the menu on the left contains Public Review Instructions and Reviewing Preliminary Applications information. This is where you will be able to review the Stanislaus NF grant application.

For information or questions related to the applications, contact Public Service Staff Officer Beth Martinez at: (209) 532-3671 x 321.
