November 18, 2024 – Mariposa County Health & Human Services officials announce that their Adult Protective Services Program (APS) has a team dedicated to promoting the health, safety, and dignity of adults aged 60 and older, and disabled adults aged 18 and older who are unable to care for their own needs.
Each California County has an Adult Protective Services (APS) agency that is ready to help elder adults (60 years and older) and dependent adults (18-59 who are disabled), when these adults are unable to meet their own needs, or are victims of abuse, neglect or exploitation.
County APS agencies investigate reports of abuse of elders and dependent adults who live in private homes, apartments, hotels, hospitals, or who are, or soon will be, experiencing homelessness.
Services are provided to victims of abuse, neglect or exploitation, including situations of self-neglect in which the older adult is unable to provide their own basic needs, and are available to any elder or dependent adult regardless of income 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.
Staff also provide information and referrals to other agencies, education to partners, and work to stabilize the lives of older and dependent adults in our community.
Don’t stand by, stand up against elder abuse!
