High-Country Health Food and Cafe in Mariposa California

On February 10, 2016, at the regular monthly meeting of the Midpines Planning Advisory Committee (MPAC) held in the Midpines Community Hall, MPAC members responded to a request from the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors.  The Board had asked MPAC members to review the Economic Vitality Strategy and Implementation Plan of 2007 and Chapter 6 of the Mariposa County General Plan and identify the five most important economic issues facing the County.

The MPAC members were led in a discussion by District 1 Supervisor, Rosemarie Smallcombe, and decided that the five most important economic issues for the County are:  1.) Fire safety/abatement,  2.) Making sure that our current residents have adequate necessities for comfortable lives and employment (i.e. broad band, transportation, etc.),  3.) More affordable housing, 4.) Making Mariposa County a year-round tourist destination, and 5.) Creating a convention center that would provide employment opportunities to local residents, enhance revenue, and attract visitors.

MPAC meetings are always held on the second Wednesday of the month from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Midpines Community Hall on Highway 140.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend.  We need your input!
