Vigilant Deputy Catches and Arrests Four Alleged Criminals
November 20, 2024 – Auburn, CA – Nevada County Sheriff’s Office officials report that four suspects were booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in the early morning hours of Nov. 19, following a burglary of a local convenience store by two of the suspects, which also uncovered a magnitude of other crimes.
The investigation began on the evening of Nov. 18 when a deputy on routine patrol in the vicinity of Combie Road and Highway 49 in Auburn noticed individuals acting out of the ordinary in front of a convenience store, who were associated with a grey truck. The vigilant deputy began watching the individuals and noted one appeared to be acting as a lookout. Shortly after, a witness reported the store had just been burglarized. As four individuals fled the scene in the grey truck, the deputy immediately pursued the vehicle (which also had expired registration) and initiated a traffic stop, with backup arriving soon after.
The investigation uncovered a massive amount of presumed stolen property, including new, unopened cosmetics from the Auburn store; additional unopened cosmetics determined to be associated with a burglary from another store in Sacramento; checks and open mail not addressed to any of the four suspects, amounting to over $10,000; additional unopened mail, not addressed to any of the four suspects; no less than 50 credit cards, debit cards, driver’s licenses and other miscellaneous cards, none of which matched the occupants’ names; and lastly, a large rock of suspected methamphetamine was also located in the center console.
All four suspects were arrested on varying offenses based upon their presumed involvement with the Auburn burglary and/or other associated crimes:
• Leitica Monique Webber-Gonzales, 37, of Elk Grove, was booked for identity theft (CA Penal Code 530.5(C)(3)), possession of unlawful checks (CA Penal Code 476A(A)), and conspiracy to commit crime (CA Penal Code 182(A)(1));
• Shawn Richard Paul Webber, 36, of Colfax, was booked for identity theft (CA Penal Code 530.5(C)(3)), possession of unlawful checks (CA Penal Code 476A(A)), conspiracy to commit crime (CA Penal Code 182(A)(1)), and violation of parole (CA Penal Code 3056);
• Christine Haralampieva, 32, of Lincoln, was booked for shoplifting (CA Penal Code 459.5(A)) and conspiracy to commit crime (CA Penal Code 182(A)(1);
• Roger Andrew Hazen, 30, of Sacramento, was booked for shoplifting (CA Penal Code 459.5(A)); conspiracy to commit crime (CA Penal Code 182(A)(1); and for an outstanding warrant - failure to appear (CA Penal Code 978.5).
This case remains under investigation and involves several suspected victims throughout Northern California. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of contacting all victims and returning stolen property.
