Two Arrested for Selling Fentanyl in Placer County 

November 20, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that just over one month ago on September 26, 2024, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year-old Owen Zuniga-Medina in Richmond on three felony counts related to the sale of fentanyl sourced to Placer County. He was released from custody with supervision terms. Our investigators quickly determined he immediately returned to selling narcotics that were being sold into Placer County, leading to his arrest on November 7, 2024.

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, detectives from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office again arrested 19-year-old Owen Zuniga-Medina and a 45-year-old woman from Richmond for supplying fentanyl and other narcotics to Placer County. They were in possession of over one pound of fentanyl and more than three pounds of meth for sale. With the assistance of The Richmond Police Department, the two were arrested. A search warrant was served at their home in Richmond and additional evidence of drug trafficking was seized.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office transported Zuniga-Medina and Jessie Navarro back to Placer County where they were booked into jail. Zuniga-Medina faces six felony charges related to drug sales and Navarro faces five felony charges related to drug sales. This investigation furthers the mission of the sheriff’s office to hold those trafficking drugs into our county accountable.
