Probation Officer Arrested for Invasion of Privacy 

November 20, 2024 – Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on November 12, 2024, a twenty-one-year-old female was shopping at Target in Riverbank. While she was in the fitting room trying on clothes she wanted to purchase, she looked up and noticed a cellular phone above the door. Someone was outside the door recording her from above. She quickly put her clothes on and opened the door to encounter an unknown male standing there. The unknown male immediately entered a neighboring fitting room and pretended to try on shoes. The victim confronted him and told him to delete the video, but the male ran out of the dressing room.

Deputies investigating the incident reviewed surveillance footage from within Target and located the unknown male walking into the dressing room. After being confronted, he was seen running out of Target and into the parking lot. Through surveillance from the parking lot, deputies identified the suspect's vehicle and license plate. The suspect was identified as Adrian Machuca, a 29-year-old Hispanic male from Waterford.

Machuca was confirmed to be employed by the Stanislaus County Probation Department as a Probation Corrections Officer. Upon learning about the allegations, Stanislaus County Probation Department fully cooperated with the investigation. On November 19, 2024, Machuca was taken into custody at work. Since his arrest, he no longer has access to department facilities or the incarcerated youth. He remains the subject of an administrative and criminal investigation.

Stanislaus County Probation Department provided the following statement: "This in no way is reflective of the positive work that the men and women of the Stanislaus County Probation Department do every day to ensure our community remains safe. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners at the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office to ensure that this situation is fully investigated. Machuca was arrested and booked for possession of matters depicting sexual conduct and for looking into an area where someone would reasonably expect privacy. He was held on a 51,000-dollar bail but has since posted bail and was released. The investigation is ongoing, and at this time, it is unknown if there are any additional victims.
