Sierra Foothill Charter School transitional kindergarten/kindergarten teacher Chelsea Stillwell (right) and third and fourth grade teacher Teena Starchman (middle) both applied for Spring Mini Grants through Mariposa Kids First and received the funding they requested. Representative Kori Smith (left) recently brought checks to the teachers. Stillwell plans to purchase books that will help support reading, language, speaking, and listening. Starchman plans to purchase historical non-fiction book sets that she will use with students during leveled reading centers. Kids First generously makes this wonderful grant opportunity available to all public school teachers in Mariposa County both in the fall and in the spring every school year.
