November 24, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on November 12, 2024, at 8:10 p.m., officers from the Northeast Policing District responded to the area of Herndon Avenue and Millbrook Avenue regarding a single gunshot heard in the area.
Officers were unable to make contact with anyone at the residence but conducted a protective sweep for any victims inside. None were located.
At 9:30 p.m., a male called into Fresno Police Department and advised that he had been shot at. The victim had arrived at his girlfriend’s apartment, and when the door opened, a male suspect fired a gun at the victim, striking his phone in his hand. The victim immediately left the scene out of fear and called police when he got to a safe place. The suspect was identified as Rogelio Garcia, Jr.
On November 19, 2024, the Street Violence Bureau Tactical Team was able to locate the suspect leaving his residence and arrested him without incident. Detectives located a loaded, privately manufactured firearm in his waistband during the arrest.
Detectives authored a search warrant for the residence and Garcia Jr.’s vehicle and located a firearm registered to Garcia Jr. in his bedroom, as well as an additional privately manufactured firearm.
Garcia Jr. was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for PC 245(a)(2), PC 25400(C)(6), PC 25850(A), and PC 24610.
This was the 198th shooting in 2024. Last year, we had 324 shootings as of November 17, 2023.
