Uncooperative Subject Prompts Shelter in Place in North Auburn

December 1, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that Deputies were on scene with an uncooperative man on Placer County Sheriff Office logoSaturday who was refusing to get out of his vehicle on Bill Francis Drive in North Auburn. We were first called to the area for reports of a man shooting a rifle with a drum magazine shortly before 11:30 a.m. Deputies located a vehicle with a man inside, matching the description. Our crisis negotiation team is on scene attempting to get the suspect to turn himself over peacefully. The suspect is aware and has been actively uncooperative.

We had to issue a shelter in place notice for Crystal Springs Road. Bill Francis Drive was closed at Princeton Drive.

After hours of negotiation and numerous attempts to negotiate a peaceful surrender, the Special Enforcement Team was called to the scene who deployed chemical agents at which point the suspect exited the vehicle and ran from deputies. Fearing the suspect was armed, deputies deployed a K9 which stopped the suspect. The suspect is being treated at the hospital for injuries and will then be booked at the Auburn Jail.

Suspect arrested for Felony 69 PC: Every person who attempts, by means of any threat or violence, to deter or prevent an officer from performing their duty.

Thank you to those who sheltered in place and avoided the area, the shelter in place has been lifted.
