Driving Safely in the Fog
December 6, 2024 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials offer safety reminders for driving in foggy conditions.
The fog has recently been incredibly thick in areas across Fresno County. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office reminds you to take safety precautions to make sure everyone can properly see each other on the roadways. This is done by activating your low beam headlights or fog lights. Also make sure you have your taillights turned on and all of your brake lights are in working order. Do not just rely on your vehicle's Daytime Running Lights feature to turn on all of your lights.
The county is filled with intersections where cross traffic is not required to stop. In these situations, when you approach a stop sign, briefly roll down your windows and listen for approaching traffic, turn off the radio and ask passengers to be quiet.
If you don’t feel comfortable driving in the fog, delay your trip or find an alternate way to get to your destination.
Be safe!
