High-Country Health Food and Cafe in Mariposa California

December 7, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on December 1, 2024, shortly after 8:00 p.m., Central officers were dispatched to the area of Dakota Avenue and Palm Avenue for a possible vehicle crash and a possible disturbance with loud yelling. Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle. A witness stated that an involved vehicle had dropped off two individuals nearby. The males involved in the disturbance were seen walking eastbound on East Shields Avenue. A sergeant arrived and attempted to contact the males.

Male #1 complied with orders to stay where he was, while the other subject ran westbound from the location carrying a backpack. The sergeant pursued male #2 on foot and saw the subject drop a firearm as they ran. The sergeant quickly caught the male and was able to detain him. The male was found to have a second firearm on his person.

Male #1 is on Parole for assault with a firearm and has a violent arrest history. He was arrested for multiple firearm charges and booked into the Fresno County Jail.

Male #2 was arrested for firearm possession charges, resisting arrest, and injuries to the sergeant sustained during the pursuit. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail.
