Sierra Foothill Charter School Home School families visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium on January 29, 2016. A group of over 30 met and spent the day in this incredible place. The aquarium was not very crowded and the home schoolers enjoyed seeing each other as they made their way through all of the world class exhibits.
Many families in Sierra Foothill Charter School program, led by teacher Steph Evans (kneeling center with dark hair and glasses) met at the Monterey Bay Aquarium to enjoy all the wonderful educational exhibits it has to offer.
Levi Evans enjoys some time hanging out in a mollusk.
Students enjoy a view into an underwater exhibit
The scuba diver feeding the animals in the Kelp Forest told students that there are 1500 gallons of salt water from the bay pumped into the tank every minute. During the day, aquarium staff filter the water so that visitors can see more clearly, but at night, the water is unfiltered so the big critters can eat as they would if they lived in the Bay.
Sierra Foothill Charter School is a free, non-profit, TK-8 public school. Open Enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year is happening now through April 14.
