Probation Search Leads to Arrest of Pursuit Suspect out of Sacramento

December 15, 2024 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on December 11, 2024, deputies with the Gang Suppression Unit responded to 2120 Scott Place, in Bakersfield, to conduct a probation search. Prior to approaching the residence, deputies noticed a Kia Stinger associated with the residence.

A Kern County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit recognized that the vehicle had been involved in a pursuit with the Sacramento Police County Sheriff Department earlier on this same date.

The Sacramento Police County Sheriff Department positively identified Timothy Ruiz (23 years old) as being involved in the earlier pursuit and advised there was probable cause to arrest him. With assistance from the KCSO Air Unit (Air 1), Metro Patrol and the K-9 Unit, the Gang Suppression Unit attempted to contact Ruiz in the front yard of 2120 Scott Place, however, he fled from deputies.

Air 1 observed Ruiz running to the rear of the property and discarding a bag over the northwest fence of the property. Air 1 directed deputies to Ruiz’ location and he was arrested without any further incident.

Deputies located the bag and found a loaded .45 caliber firearm inside the bag. Ruiz was arrested for multiple gang and weapons charges and booked into Lerdo Jail.
