Mojave Arrests for Narcotics (Fentanyl)
December 15, 2024 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on December 11, 2024, deputies from the Kern County Sheriff's Office Gang Suppression Unit and Detentions Investigations Unit conducted a narcotics investigation. The investigation revealed known Sureño gang members, Matthew Christy and Roberto Betancourt, with assistance from Nannette Landers, were attempting to smuggle a large amount of narcotics into the Lerdo Jail Facility, through the Mojave Superior Court.
Deputies were able to take Betancourt, Landers, Genevieve Zuniga and Zoey Seymour into custody at the Mojave Superior Court. Christy, who was already in-custody during this investigation, was also at the Mojave Superior Court for an unrelated case. During a search of Betancourt, deputies located approximately two (2) ounces of fentanyl and two (2) ounces of methamphetamine, with a prison value of approximately $50,000.
All five were arrested and booked for Conspiracy; Participation in a criminal street gang; bringing narcotics into a jail facility; and possession of narcotics for the purposes of sales.
