December 18, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on the morning of Tuesday, December 17th at approximately 8:00 a.m. we were called to the area of Douglas Boulevard and Quail Oaks Drive in Granite Bay for a report of an attempted kidnapping of a student at a bus stop. The middle school student was waiting for the bus when the transient man approached and told the student that they had to leave with him. The student ran home and told their parents, who called us.
Deputies quickly responded to the area and were able to locate the suspect. He initially did not comply, but deputies were able to take him into custody. The suspect, 38-year-old Joshua Landreth, is being booked into jail on several charges including attempted kidnapping.
