Deputies Help Couple Stranded in the Snow near Emigrant Gap 

December 24, 2024 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Sunday, December 22, 2024, deputies responded to a call about a truck trapped in snow on Texas Hill Road near Fulda Ridge. The vehicle was stuck about two miles beyond where the road had been plowed, in an area with limited cell phone service. Fortunately, a person living in a cabin in the area was flying a drone and spotted the stranded truck and called us for help.

Deputies quickly mobilized, using emergency equipment and snowmobiles to reach the location. They successfully freed the truck using traction boards. The couple had been stranded for approximately six hours but were unharmed.

A big thank you to the observant drone pilot and to our deputies for their quick response and teamwork in this successful rescue.
