January 2, 2025 – El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Wednesday morning at around 3:50 a.m., Deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office along with Pioneer Fire and Cal Fire personnel responded to a structure fire in the 7000 block of Mt. Aukum Road, in Somerset. 

At the time of the incident, it was reported that the residence was occupied by multiple people. Fire personnel were able to extinguish the structure fire, however two individuals were found deceased inside the structure. Currently the cause of the fire is under investigation. The identities of the victims will be released by the Sheriff’s Office once identification is confirmed and the next of kin notification has been made.
