Felony Theft Arrest 

January 26, 2025 – Sonora Police Department officials report that 42-year-old Marshae L. Wolf of Columbia, CA was arrested last Tuesday for felony theft, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

While a Sonora PD Officer was on scene at the 1100 block of Sanguinetti Road dealing with an unrelated incident, the officer was flagged down by loss prevention staff regarding a female, later identified as Wolf, who was attempting to walk out of the store with a cart of unpaid items. Wolf was detained, and a records check revealed she had an active warrant for her arrest. During a search incident to arrest, the officer located suspected drug paraphernalia.

The investigation concluded with an arrest for shoplifting for just over $600 worth of unpaid merchandise. This value of stolen merchandise would typically result in misdemeanor charges; however, because Wolf had multiple prior theft convictions, the officer could charge a felony. She was booked at the County Jail without incident.

With Proposition 36 passing in December of 2024, people previously convicted of specific drug or theft crimes can once again receive increased punishment for repeat crimes. This change undoes some of the punishment reductions from Proposition 47, passed in 2014.

It's important to remember that the individuals mentioned in this report were arrested based on suspicion of the crimes they've been charged with. All such charges are mere allegations, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. This principle is the bedrock of our legal system and should be respected by all.
