January 28, 2025 - TRACY, CA – On Monday, Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom issued a rebuke of the federal administration’s proposed plan to divert water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to Southern California.

The proposed plan threatens the lifeblood of the Delta region, which supports families, farmers, businesses, wildlife, and the cultural practices of sovereign and state-recognized California tribes. Sustainable access to water is vital for these communities and industries. 

“The Delta is essential to our region,” said Assemblymember Ransom. “Diverting water jeopardizes the ecosystem and deepens historical injustices faced by California tribes and disadvantaged communities.”

Assemblymember Ransom is committed to collaborating with her colleagues, local leaders, environmental advocates, and agricultural industries to explore solutions that safeguard both local communities and the state’s broader water needs. The Delta’s $5 billion agricultural economy relies on the integrity of its water system to maintain its vital role in California’s economy.
