High-Country Health Food and Cafe in Mariposa California

January 29, 2025 – Mariposa County Health & Human Services officials announce that in December of 2024 Mariposa County launched the Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment (CARE) Act or CARE Court. The CARE Court program provides for court intervention for adult individuals living with untreated schizophrenia spectrum or other psychotic disorders that are experiencing severe impairment, services are either court-ordered or voluntary and are at no cost to participants who meet criteria and would benefit from the program.

Who can refer a person to CARE Court? The CARE Act authorizes specified adult family members, clinical providers, first responders, and others to make referrals to County Behavioral Health or submit a petition to Mariposa County Superior Court.

CARE Court is not a crisis program, if you or someone you know are experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 1-209-966-7000 (toll-free at 1-800-549-6741) or call/text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
