Arrest for Felony Possession of Metal Knuckles
February 2, 2025 – Sonora Police Department officials report that 22-year-old Michael W. Gross of LaGrange was arrested on Thursday, January 23, 2025, for possession of metal knuckles, resisting arrest with force, and public intoxication.
On January 23, just before 8:00 p.m., Sonora PD officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot at the intersection of Theall and Stewart Streets. A 911 caller reported a subject passed out in his vehicle with the driver's door open and an aggressive dog inside.
When the officers initially approached the vehicle to check on Gross, the dog lunged at one of the officers and attempted to bite his arm. The officers were eventually able to wake Gross, who displayed signs of alcohol intoxication. Gross was arrested, and a search of his person produced metal knuckles. Gross struggled with officers and kicked at one of them as they attempted to secure him in the patrol car.
Gross was subsequently booked for felony possession of an unlawful weapon, along with resisting arrest and public intoxication. The dog was safely turned over to a family member who was called to the scene.
It's important to remember that the individuals mentioned in this report were arrested based on suspicion of the crimes they've been charged with. All such charges are mere allegations, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. This principle is the bedrock of our legal system and should be respected by all.
